Are Pavers Expensive?

That question is extremely hard to answer without first knowing what kind of pavers you are looking for, for your property. There are so many different kinds of pavers available that knowing the cost of pavers is virtually impossible to pin down without knowing the paver pattern you are looking for, the size of the individuals pavement pieces, the material that you want the pavement pieces to be made out of and of course what quality of paver pattern you are looking for.

The cost of the pavers also depends a lot upon how they are made. Mass produced pavers will be cheaper than more specialised pavers or those made by hand. Poured concrete pavers for instance are amongst the cheapest to manufacturer and install and they are also the most long lasting pavers. Even with heavy use, concrete pavers can last a decade or two with ease if laid properly.

Cobble stones on the other hand are more expensive and the installation is more difficult as well. They have to be installed by hand as no two pieces are the same and maintaining straight lines is very difficult as well. Installing cobblestones is a job best left to the experts, who know how to lay pavers. Clay pavers may look pretty, but they are also difficult to install and the inconsistent sizing often makes it difficult to maintain straight lines. The need for a poured concrete base underneath the clay pavers also adds not only to the cost but also to the time taken for the installation.

Ordinary poured concrete is one of the cheapest and easiest to install but it cannot be done by home owners. A poured concrete pavement can be used within a week of having it put in and depending upon the weather when it was poured and hardened and the expertise of the people who laid it, a concrete pavement can easily last a decade. You should take all these factors into account, in addition to pricing when looking for paver patterns.
